“The Studio” art exhibition (Majsternya) was opened at the “Academy” gallery in Minsk, where two Belarusian contemporary artists - Alexei Khatskevich and Alexander Nekrashevich introduced their visions of existence, various system of values and modern civilization.

Alexei Khatskevich works in style of, as he calls it, decorative-abstract realism. Alexander Nekrashevich paints at the interface of pop-art and figurative wordplay. On display there are paintings from the Alexei Khatskevich’s art projects “Wedding” (reflections on such topics as marriage and fidelity) and “Paintings as Comic Books” (where the artist tries to crossbreed painting and literature and develop the underlying sense of the former). Alexander Nekrashevich showcases his artworks from “Tuning” series – vivid fantasies and thoughts about interaction of techno/industrial environment and humans. What unites these two contemporary Belarusian artists is that Alexei and Alexander studied together at the Belarusian Art Academy and after graduation shared a studio in Minsk for a long period of time. That also gave birth to the name of the exhibition “The Studio”, which will be on through the 18th of January.
