The exhibition "Astral Painting” opened on December, 12 in the Minsk Planetarium. There are 25 abstract expressionistic artworks by Victor Vasiukevich on display, followed by extracts from his poetry. Overall, this exhibition reflects Mr. Vasiukevich’s leaning towards working with larger canvases. “Victor Vasiukevich does not attempt to depict specific astronomical objects since the artist is interested in space as a perfect spiritual world that was created by God in the first place", the curator of the exhibition Ales Sukhodolov noted. "That’s why his astral compositions are spiritualized, permeated with light, warmth and love. He sees space as an example of ideal harmony, which challenges any need of struggler and confrontation. The artist’s perception of space is filled with music that you can not only hear, but also witness". Mr. Vasiukevich added that according to his level of spiritual development he only intuitively records what God hints. "I start working on the particular painting and doesn’t finish it. I make a stop at the moment I feel the harmony has been achieved", mentioned the artist. The art show is dedicated to the International Year of Astronomy (a global project initiated by the International Astronomical Union and UNESCO). The exhibition is on through January 10, 2010. ![]() ![]() ![]() Photos by Ales Sukhodolov |
