Watercolors and etchings by Luibov Abramova

The watercolor still lifes by Luibov Abramova are performed lightly and gracefully, producing the impression of tenderness and airiness of the image and giving an audience visual sensation of world’s poetical origin and musical beauty.

The elements of a still life are always recognizable but at the same time they are invariably suffused with mystery and beauty. And probably this special feature of the genre has prompted Luibov, who started as a graphic artist, to begin work on still lifes in watercolor. And these are not ordinary watercolors – some of her artworks are almost one-meter-long.

In her works even simple plums, apples and pears charm by their inimitable mysteriousness. Using various watercolor techniques the artist is trying to channel barely perceptible shades and undertints, and to express the subtlest nuances of color and light. Every tiny detail in her artworks is harmoniously interwoven in the whole context of the inimitable color palette.

Liubov Abramova was born in 1977 in Minsk, Belarus. In 2004 she graduated from the Belarusian Art Academy, Department of Graphics and in 2008 completed three-year traineeship at Creative Academic Art Workshops of the Ministry of Culture of Belarus.
