Nikolay Isaenok / Николай Исаенок

Nikolay Isaenok

Nikolay Isaenok painted still life, landscapes, genre painting. He felt that the essence of life could be expressed through a crumpled newspaper with a piece of herring on it, a table roughly made from wood, a plate full of pears, an iron bed against the background of a wall carpet. In those first works one can feel the echo of the “severe style” and his aspiration for large forms and expressive plastic art. Later Nikolay turnes his attention to an emotional richness of a canvas, to perception and ease. He is inspired by both endless expanses and riot of flowers around his house. He admires a miracle created by nature and paints its ever-changing states. He is also enchanted by still life with articles from country life – they are simple and sincere.
