ARTVILNIUS11: Belarusian Gallery Named Best Foreign Participant

The Baltic Contemporary Art Fair ARTVILNIUS is the major international art fair in the Baltic States. ARTVILNIUS11 was held in two large halls of the LITEXPO Center in Vilnius from July 13th through July 17th. This was its second year – it debuted in 2009, when Vilnius was the European Capital of Culture.

Awards in the juried competition were taken home by various artists and galleries, and the Belarusian gallery “Y” was among them. Gallery “Y” from Minsk was awarded Best Foreign Participant. The winning project "She cannot say HEAVEN” was created by a group of eleven Belarusian artists who attempted to show in their work the emotional congestion that comes from living in a country with pronounced censorship.
