[gallery of Alexander Nekrashevich] No doubt Alexander Nekrashevich is one of the most remarkable and promising Belarusian artist. The artist sees himself as a postmodernist. He meticulously works on details. Sometimes he uses an airbrush to redraw the details or simulates the crazing effect. Sometimes he combines media and materials deliberately to avoid a feeling that what we see in result is a handmade artwork. Hence, such obvious antitheses as "natural - artificial", "living - nonliving world", "man - animal" blur and look no more than an illusion. "Colliders, robots, aliens- it all incredibly fascinates me, and in this context I am a poet of modern aesthetics," admits Alexander Nekrashevich.
The most recent Alexander's huge project was "Tuning", and now the artist is working on his newest series, which he outlines as "Gods & Heroes".
The main features of "Tuning" series are colorful fantasies/reflections on interaction between techno-industrial environment and human beings, and in general about an impact of the modern civilization on humans. The series is dedicated to futuristic images. "In my project "Tuning" I concentrated on the topic of artificial worlds: external and internal," says Alexander Nekrashevich. "Humankind adjusts to transformed landscapes, air, water, GM food and the like. It kind of evolves with the development of the civilization. We go through changes on physical, spiritual and genetic levels. It appears as a inter-tuning: we alter nature, nature changes us. And this interaction, apparently, is growing exponentially. The more fundamentally we fine-tune the outside world, the stronger it impacts on our inner world.
The "Gods & Heroes" series is about the transformation of the classical, mythological Gods in a new generation of gods and heroes. It's the birth of the "new mythology". Many of the artworks are made from nitrogenous lacquer on aluminium surface. This technique is inspired by airbrushing - Alexander used to professionally airbrush cars. Alexander Nekrashevich was born in Pinsk, Belarus in 1973.
